Looking for a place to start yoga? Not sure where to go and what to do? Nervous and intimidated? Try taking a 6 week Yoga For Beginners 101. Guided by Upward Dog Yoga Centre's own graduate and long time student Stuart Bell YT, RMT. The space will be inclusive and friendly. We won't let you fall through the cracks. We will teach you what yoga is, different terminology, the postures and answer your questions. Time will be taken to explain the different yoga styles and why yoga can be for anybody and ANY BODY. There will be some basic yoga philosophy, breath work and meditation as well.

This 20-hour teacher training is designed to draw practitioners deeper into the benefits of meditation and to provide teachers with new tools for guiding students through meditative experiences.

We will discuss, practice and teach various types of meditation learning about their individual history and benefits. While many styles of meditation will be touched on throughout this 20-hour program our focus will be on Japa meditation - repetition of mantras with the use of a mala or meditaion beads; Nyasa meditation - the "installation" of a particular mantra or visualization on the body (this encompasses Yoga Nidra and many guided relaxation/ visualization techniques); and Zazen meditation - a mindfulness technique where the practitioner uses the breath to focus on the present moment.

The forty hour Restorative Training is a rich teacher training to inform the personal study as well as teaching skills of each student. Students will learn the joys of restorative yoga through first-hand experience of the postures, and will also learn hands on experience in how to teach students of all levels. Also, students will learn the Ayurvedic, physiological, emotional, and biomechanical elements of each pose.
An extensive repertoire of beginner as well as advanced postures will be passed on to students according to the length of each training with the detail necessary to bring depth and life changing benefits to students. How to set up the postures in detail, as well as modify for a class with less props will be explored. Teaching methodology and sequencing as well as many details for supporting the body best understanding biomechanics for deep release will be examined in detail.

Creating safer environments that are inclusive and safe(er) spaces that welcome people of diverse backgrounds will be explored.

A final project will ensure one on one time with Andrea where you both together make sure that you are ready and sure on all of the details as well have the personal practice experience to teach with confidence.

This training is not only for yoga teachers but anyone also interested in their own health and wellness. Other students in the past have been: yoga students, nurses, nurse practitioners, physiotherapists, police officers, teachers, social workers... anyone interested in how deep rest can better their lives and our world.
